Word Default Keyboard Shortcuts Codes
The default shortcut code is a special number and/or letter used to represent a character such as the character on the right side.To know the code for each character, go to the Insert tab, in the Symbols group, click on Symbol and then More Symbols... A pop-up window will open. You can see the Shortcut key for each character at the bottom of the symbol dialog box. You can memorize these codes if you wish to.
How to Enter the Code
There are types of characters in Microsoft Word. Some characters are Unicode Hexadecimal and others are ASCII Hexadecimal. The Unicode’s shortcut keys look like the following: 0109, ALT+X, whereas the ASCII codes look like ALT+0128.How to enter the Unicode shortcut keys:
Step 1:
Make sure that the NUM LOCK key is switched ON. If it’s on, the Num light should be on. Enter the number (i.e. 0109 or other).Step 2:
Press and hold ALT+X and then release your hand. The symbol will automatically appear.How to enter the ASCII shortcut keys:
